PLease SaY NaY Pope Benedict XVI

Local imam to join talks at Vatican

With Islam at the center of several explosive situations around the world, one of Michigan's most prominent Muzlim leaders, Imam Hassan Qazwini, headed to Rome on Monday night for five days of Catholic-Muzlim talks focused on interfaith strategies for making peace.

"It's a very promising sign that the Vatican is promoting this dialogue," Qazwini said as he prepared to fly off to meet Wednesday at the Vatican with Pope Benedict XVI. That meeting is to be followed by four days of talks between Catholic leaders and Muzlim clerics from around the world.

Forgive my lack of humility here but it seems that this sort of invitation amounts to nothing more than sanctioning and acceptance.

May I remind us all of this fairly recent episode involving our very own President?
In Who's Protecting the President? you may recall the following from May 6, 2003.....

Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. wrote that "The sound of a kiss is not so loud as that of cannon, but its echo lasts a great deal longer." If this is true, then there should be some serious political reverberations as a result of President Bush's decision to kiss Imam Hassan Qazwini after speaking to an Arab-American community in Dearborn, Michigan on Monday.

This continues a well-noted trend of placing the President in the company of purported leaders of the Muzlim community who do not share the President's moral clarity on terror.

This supposedly "moderate" Imam from the Detroit, Michigan-based Islamic Center of America (ICA) has some disturbing connections to radical Islamists that cannot be overlooked by a conservative President who has been entrusted by the American people to fight a war on global terrorism.

For starters, Imam Qazwini's Islamic Center once invited Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan to be the keynote speaker at a memorial for its deceased founder Imam Mohamad Jawad Chirri. At the time, Arab American News described his address as "dynamic" and "always controversial," and reported that he urged the Muzlim community "to become politically active...[and] as powerful as the Zionists."

Translated as : Fear not. We still hate Jews.

For those who do not recall, Louis Farrakhan is the man who once called Judaism a "gutter religion" and who has been banned - for security reasons -- from entering the United Kingdom since 1986. London's left wing journal The Observer has a profile of Louis Farrakhan that points out his "reliance on anti-semitic imagery." A few examples: "Jews are 'bloodsuckers'"; "Hitler 'was a great man.'" It also notes that "he talks of 'settling the score' with white people" and boasts proudly "that black street gangs are 'born warriors of true liberation.'"

Translated as : Fear not. We still hate Jews and White People.

Furthermore, in the lead up to the war that eventually liberated the people of Iraq, the Associated Press reported in October 2002 that Farrakhan believed Saddam Hussein was "making peace with his neighbors" and that the "[Bush] Administration is the greatest threat to world peace." He added, "Only Israel, the United States and Tony Blair...are willing to go along with an attack on Iraq."

Would Imam Qazwini consider these anti-war, anti-Bush viewpoints to be "similarities" or "differences" of opinion?

Imam Qazwini has other troublesome connections to radicals in the United States. He is a board member of the American Muzlim Council and shares this position with some notable terror apologists.

Translated as : Fear not. We still hate Americans too.

And yet our President kissed this man and the Pope now wishes an audience with him.
Does anyone not see that there is a principle at stake here.
Do not deceive yourselves...The terrorists are gauging our response to their venemous words and barbaric tactics.

And for this we reward them with validation and affection?

Google Restrictions or NoT

According to one opionion: Internet Cargo bound by law

"China has every right to demand certain restrictions from Google and other companies seeking to do business with its citizens.

This is no different than a cargo ship coming into port from international waters; by entering any country's territory, they are agreeing to be bound by that country's laws.

The Internet may be international, but all its cargo must come to port in your country before reaching your browser."

Who's GoD is it AnywaY

The Death of God Exhibit opens..but we ALL know which God will be portrayed now don't we?

Muuuuuhammad is alive and well in this latest exhibit by a controversial British artist.
But crucifixes and rosaries aren't faring as well..

"The show, the result of Hirst's three-month stay in Mexico, includes human skeletons, animals preserved in formaldehyde and skinned lambs, propped up as if praying or splayed upon crucifixes. One work shows a lamb kneeling inside a crystal container, looking as if it is carrying a white-covered Bible and red rosary between its legs."

And for the quote of the day:
"They are in effect, very strong works, but our intention is not to provoke but to invite to reflection, to the discussion of ideas, and I think Hirst achieves that with impeccable quality," said Hilario Galguera, who owns the gallery. "I don't think they are provocative pieces simply to provoke, that would be very easy."

Human skeletons propped up and praying...splayed upon crucifixes..?
animals with Bibles and rosaries between their legs?...

and his intention is not to provoke?
How bout this catchy title then: "The Death of God" ....

"This government is very Catholic and when certain very reactionary people find out and see the works, they're going to make a fuss," Caballero said. "But that will be a good thing in the end because it will make more people be interested and come and see other ways to make art."

Oh...no fatwahzzzzzz on his head eh?..Because he is only insulting and degrading and blaspheming Christianity eh?
I will not insult your intelligence, dear readers by bringing some glaringly obvious points to light.

Will the press shy away from reproducing these images so as not to offend Christians?

Yahoo News Photos
has already prepared the slide show!

A man looks at a bull's heart pierced with needles in a formaldehyde solution, a piece by british artist Damien Hirst called 'The Sacred Heart of Jesus'..

'Adam and Eve Under the Table'

'The Body of Christ' consisting of 500mg paracetamol tablets and bull's blood'

'In the name of the father' consisting of sheep crucified and suspended in formaldehyde'

'Our Father who Art in Heaven' consisting of a sheep in formaldehyde with a rosary and a prayer book'

But fret not, because they are expecting people to ahem..."make a fuss".
What exactly constitutes "a fuss"?

Muzlim Barbarian SavageS TorturE and Murder Jewish Young MaN

In a tragic, tragic story Brutal murder was anti-Semitic crime

"The French interior minister, Nicolas Sarkozy, yesterday described the abduction, torture and killing of a young Jewish man as an anti-Semitic crime, amid growing anger at the brutal murder.
Mr Sarkozy told the French parliament that the gang sought for the murder of Ilan Halimi, 23, whose naked body was found by railway tracks eight days ago, three weeks after he had disappeared, had also tried to kidnap other Jews."

"The police, who found literature linking some of the suspects to Palestinian and Muzlim groups, have insisted the murder was motivated by greed - the gang had demanded a ransom - and not religious motives."The truth is that these crooks acted primarily for sordid and vile motives, to get money, but they were convinced that 'the Jews have money."

"That's called anti-Semitism by amalgam."

"Ilan Halimi was snatched on January 21. A young woman, suspected as acting as a lure, has since given herself up. His family received numerous ransom demands. He was found, with 80% of his body burned, naked and handcuffed on February 13. He died on the way to hospital."

"France's Jewish community numbers around 600,000, the Muslim community around five million, both the largest in Europe...

Police had earlier insisted the murder was not anti-Semitic, but the victim's mother Ruth Halimi accused them of ignoring this motive for fear of upsetting Muzlim opinion...

She told the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz that if her son "hadn't been Jewish, he wouldn't have been killed"...
"We told the police there were at least three attempted kidnappings of young Jews but they kept insisting that the motives were purely criminal."

This beautiful young Jewish boy was found with 80% of his body burned, naked and handcuffed..

I await the rioting and passionate, vehement outcry from the ahem moderate Muzlim community.
I'm waiting.
Still waiting.

Please pray for the soul and family of Ilan Halimi.
Pray that for once -Justice will be done.

FlagS Furling

According to Education is solution to creating patriotism ...

Some claim that Patriotism is a value that cannot be forced or required through law.

"Putting American flags in every classroom, as a bill in the Arizona House of Representatives proposes, will do little to increase patriotism in young students. A better solution is to properly fund education so that students can learn about our nation's history, institutions and civic participation.

Then, when students see a flag, they will see something more than a piece of fabric with stars and stripes on it."

Hmmmmmmm..if you ask me........I'm liking that bill.

The mere presence of our flag gives voice to our ideology and unique American sentiments.
Our students are presently so awash in PCism, and multi-culturalism, it would serve them well to to whip up a fervent love and pride of this great, noble country.

The word patriotism actually comes from a Greek word meaning "fatherland." The love of fatherland or homeland was an attachment to the physical features of the land.
Much the same way one may place a picture of his own father on his mantle, and in so doing, is reminded of his or her love for the very person to whom she owns her very life.

I say...Hoist up those beautiful American flags in our classrooms and let the children's hearts be tugged with pride and love of country. We desperately need to be reminded just what ideals the red, white and blue truly stand for.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn cautioned us:

"Woe to that nation whose literature is cut short by the intrusion of force. This is not merely interference with freedom of the press but the sealing up of a nation's heart, the excision of its memory."

The Fascists of Free Speech reveals to us that City Lights bookstore in San Francisco is refusing to sell the long-delayed English translation of Oriana Fallaci's new book, "The Force of Reason."

Fallaci's book takes a militant stance against Islamic militants.

Patrons were told "We don't carry books by fascists."..Hmmm...wonder if Mein Kamf is on the shelves..after all..wer'e talking San Francisco here.
And needless to say if something offends women...well ..this very same store
City Lights supported banned author, owner Lawrence Ferlinghetti, who was indicted (and acquitted) for obscenity in 1957 for selling Allen Ginsberg's "Howl." But hey obscenity only encourages violence and disrespectful attitudes toward women..so what the heck eh...
Formidable barriers around the liberty of opinion only extends to the sensitive Muzlim population apparently.

Oh and by the way Fallaci is being sued in Italy for insulting religion because of her latest book.
In May, 2005, A-del S-mith, the President of the Union of Italian Muzlims launched a lawsuit against Fallaci charging that "some of the things she said in her book The Force of Reason are offensive to Islam." Smith's attorney, Matteo Nicoli, cited a phrase from the book that refers to Islam as "a pool that never purifies." Consequently an Italian judge ordered her to stand trial set for June 2006 in Bergamo on charges of "defaming Islam."

Who is this self-righteous Muzlim A-del S-mith you may ask.. On June 14, 2005 Smith himself was sentenced by an Italian court in Padua to six months in prison (commuted to a fine of € 6.000), for the crime of defaming religion. On January 4, 2003, during a live broadcast on Italian TV, Smith had characterized Christianity as a "criminal association" and described Pope John Paul II as "a foreigner who leads the church ... a con man". On 13 January 2006 Smith was sentenced again to 8 months in prison for the crime of defaming religion. On 15 December 2003 he threw out of the window a crucifix in the hospital room where his mother and two other women were ailing, he describes the crucifix as "the small corpse that scares children".
Oriana Fallaci prosecuted in Italy for Speech Crime

Let's see now are any of the ahem .."peaceful" Muzlims carrying placards saying"Behead Those Who Disrespect Islam," or "Get Ready for the Real Holocaust" being sued?..How about silenced?..Censored?..You guessed it. Not.

Then again Hubert H. Humphrey said: "The right to be heard does not automatically include the right to be taken seriously."

HollyweirD Undermining National SecuritY

Hollywood Sells Out to Radical Islamic Interests

"WASHINGTON, DC -- Accuracy in Media (AIM) today urged a congressional inquiry into how Hollywood has come under the influence of radical Islam.

"This issue strikes us as being just as important as an Arab-based firm managing some terminals at U.S. seaports." declared AIM editor Cliff Kincaid. "Hollywood's deleterious influence on our nation -- and the world -- can certainly be construed as a national security issue."

"..Hollywood is whitewashing the threat posed by Islamic terrorists. "Munich" depicts murderous Palestinian terrorists as ordinary and thoughtful human beings,(thoughtful, yes, that's the word that leaps to mind isn't it?).. while "Syriana" suggests U.S. foreign policy is responsible for provoking terrorist violence.(of course..isn't it always?..) Another film, "Paradise Now," which is also up for an Academy Award, glorifies would-be suicide bombers.

"But Hollywood and our major media have been under radical Arab influence for quite some time... "The Sum of All Fears," which was the movie version of the Tom Clancy book, replaced the Arab terrorist villains with neo-Nazis so as not to offend the Council on American Islamic Relations. The Fox network responded to complaints about its popular series "24" depicting Muzlims in America secretly plotting terrorism by running public service announcements portraying American Muzlims as moderate and peaceful.

Public service announcements portraying American Muzlims as moderate and peaceful???
Because for once, they depicted Muzlims plotting terrorism , they have to make disclaimers?!

Hollywood is nothing but a propaganda machine churning out battle cries daily that do not match reality. They merely reinforce and impose their biases - masquerading as entertainment.

Time to set the record straight. Save your money. Don't bother buying that movie ticket..unless your brain needs a good washing.

We all know how much Hollywood stars and little starlets loves animal rights..Go see TMH's article on Animal Rights..It's an eye opener.

YouR MoneY given to TerroristS?

Of the People, By the People, For the Terrorists

raises what would seem like a common sense issue.....

"Common sense dictates that it is unwise to fund those who want to do you harm. It makes no sense to buy bullets for a gun that will be shot at you. In fact, it wouldn’t be out of line to say that funding those who have declared you are the enemy, for any reason, is a pretty stupid move. In light of this bit of logic, why is the United States, or any other free nation for that matter, still mulling the possibility of funding a Hamas-led Palestinian government?"

"Recently, the US State Department, in response to declarations by senior Hamas leaders refusing to acknowledge the right of Israel to exist, and the refusal of those now elected to power by the Palestinian people to renounce violence and terrorism, asked – asked – the Palestinian Authority to return $50 million US dollars so taxpayers were not funding a Hamas lead Palestinian government."

"There is an important point that needs to be highlighted. “Aid” that is issued in the name of the US government to any country or organization for any reason is literally derived of taxpayer dollars. Whether it is $350 million for tsunami relief, an initial $50 million for Pakistani earthquake aid or $87 billion for the liberation, stabilization and reconstruction of Iraq, it is all derived from taxpayer dollars."

So, when the US government sends $50 million to coax Hamas terrorists into not murdering their Israeli neighbors; to reward them for restraining from strapping on suicide vests made of nails and C4 in a quest to acquaint themselves with those 72 virgins, the bribe is bankrolled by American taxpayer dollars.

The government however will“continue to work to meet the humanitarian needs of ordinary Palestinians using non-governmental entities.”..in other words, they are still supporting with American taxpayer dollars, mind you- the very " people who are directly responsible for voting a terrorist organization into power, and are knowingly complicit with the actions of a terrorist organization."

Are we not aware that The US State Department officially recognizes Hamas as a terrorist organization.!

It is high time the U.S. stops apologizing for what is perceived by the self-haters as "isolationism"...
It is high time the U.S. stops giving in to irrational hysteria rather than relying on informed reason.

Funding supporters of terrorism is ..ahem..funding terrorism.

The "N" WorD

Actor Tries to Trademark "N" Word

"The actor Damon Wayans has been engaged in a 14-month fight to trademark the term "Nigga" for a clothing line and retail store..
But, so far, his applications have been unsuccessful. Trademark examiner Kelly Boulton rejected the registration dated Dec. 22, citing a law that prohibits marks that are "immoral or scandalous."

"While debate exists about in-group uses of the term, 'nigga' is almost universally understood to be derogatory," Boulton wrote to Wayans' attorney, William H. Cox, according to the application.

"IN group"?..Let me understand this.....The attorneys are so inundated with political correctness that they won't countenance any suggestion that um...the "out group"..(oh that would be "white folk" now wouldn't it)...use that word in any shape or form whatsoever..but for black people it is alright to be unencumbered by the niceties of interpersonal relationships and respectful speech?

"Lynda Zadra-Symes, a trademark lawyer in California, said Wayans may be successful. She compared "Nigga" to the successful registration of Dykes on Bikes. The San Francisco Women's Motorcycle Contingent fought the Trademark Office for three years to overturn an initial rejection of a Dykes on Bikes trademark. The mark was published Jan. 24.

"Because the application was by a group of lesbians it was eventually allowed to publish," Zadra-Symes said.

"This is a great victory," the group proclaimed on its website. "It affirms our right to determine who we are and how we present ourselves to the world."

Alritey then...who they are?..and how they present themselves to the world is -Dykes on Bikes?-
If that is who they are........they had better
desperately attempt to hold onto the tenuous reins of any respect and dignity they could ever hope to get.

In January, an episode of the late-night Cartoon Network series Boondocks was criticized for putting the word in the mouth of a fictionalized Martin Luther King Jr.

The effort to commercialize "nigga" drew a sharp response from a black school official who participated in a forum about the word earlier this month at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

"I don't care for it in any form," said Dr. Lonnie Williams, associate vice chancellor for student affairs. "Either way you pronounce it, spell it, anything associated with it -- I find it offensive."

Rhodan believes that affectionate use of the term within the black community should make it an acceptable mark, but the Trademark Office has thus far has not been persuaded by that argument.

Since when can a term be used innocuously by an in-group member, while an out-group member would lose his job for the same utterance!

The term "nigg-er" was used violently to reinforce the subservient position blacks had occupied. It was used in conjuction with hate crimes and horrific offenses visited upon them.

It will never be a compliment, any more than "bitch" or "ho" or any of the other words the hip-hop community has taken the liberty to try to mainstream.

Don't agree?
Let's see what happens the first time a white dude buys the t-shirt with "Nigga" plastered on it and takes a stroll in the local mall eh?

Freedom's JusT AnotheR Word for Nothing Left to Lose

Yahoo News When Freedom's Just Another Weapon raises several issues.

"In the war on terror, as during the cold war, the ultimate weapon has been freedom: free elections, free speech, free trade, for instance. But Hamas's win in the Palestinian vote, protests over the Muhammad cartoons, and a US debate over an Arab firm managing six American ports have raised doubts about freedom's worth."

In all three cases, the values of democracy, equality, and openness appear to some people as working against the cause of defeating Islamic terrorists by promoting freedom. Enemies are seen as using the "weapons" meant to defeat them, somewhat like Lenin's warning that capitalists will sell someone the rope with which they themselves could be hung.

As a result of this perception of liberty being turned against liberty, some in the West are tempted to retreat from these principles, which are the legacy of the Enlightenment and the bedrock of civilization and progress.

Hmmm..let us examine this shall we.
The first claim is that in the aftermath of the Danish cartoons, no Western government has stood tall in defending the liberty of free speech. The fear of retribution from militant Muslims has cowed some voices that normally cherish this right.

I concede this is valid and quite alarming actually.

The second claim is that free trade, too, has taken a knock with the reaction in the US over news of a company from the United Arab Emirates that's taken over operations of ports in Miami, New York, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Baltimore, and New Jersey. Stereotyping has kicked in, and this one involves racism against any Arab entity owning a vital piece of the US economy, especially one that could be an entry point for terrorist weapons.

Stereotyping???
Our Muzlim ahem...associate's record is replete with examples of violence and bloodletting,..um...The World Trade Center ring any bells perhaps?
They have exhibited extreme and passionate contempt for both Israel and the "West".
And they reassure us that the company "has been well screened by the federal government?" If that wasn't so frightening it may actually be comical.

The third claim lies in the Hamas election victory. Both the US and Israel have turned their backs on this result of ahem...cough cough..this "democracy" because of Hamas's past support for attacks on Israeli civilians and its denial of Israel's right to exist.

Clearly liberal thinkers have lost their intellectual sheen. In the name of the Universal value of Freedom - Israel and the U.S. should overlook past behaviors of attack dogs who systematically supported suicide/homicide bombs on civilians throughout the Land...
People who glorify violent resolutions to problems.......
and the mere, trivial fact that they did not and STILL do not recognize Israel's right to exist...shouldn't be met with relentless, feverish scrutiny..but should just be um...overlooked eh?

I know one thing. If you wish to launch an attempt to negatively brand the West and Israel....disengaging from your intellectual roots..is certainly not the way to go.

Protect our Ports.
Protect Israel.
Amen.
oh..and ..by all means publish whatever cartoons you see fit.
This is still a free country ..isn't it?

Freedom of speech is of no use to a man who has nothing to say and freedom of worship is of no use to a man who has lost his God.

EmotioN of the DaY: GratitudE

Are you the type of person who lights a candle or curses the darkness?

Do you bless everything that comes your way, trusting that its meaning will become clear, even if you can't possibly see how in the present?

How do you feel about these?

I have so much in life to be thankful for.
I can be awestruck by the beauty of a mountain view or a sunset over the ocean.
I am grateful for being alive.
I am grateful to a wide variety of people.
If I had to list everything that I felt grateful for, it would be a very long list.

Not feeling overly thankful....
Want to increase your 'gratefulness quotient'?
Include an evening meditation focused on gratitude. Every evening, before you go to sleep, try to come up with a few specific events that occurred that day (as well as some things from life, in general) for which you feel grateful. And yes, even do this on a "bad day".Heh. You may surprise yourself with what you find.

"If you can't be thankful for what you receive, be thankful for what you escape."

"If the only prayer you say in your life is "thank you," that would suffice."

Sooooooooo my dear friends,...What are YOU thankful for?

Good News is No News- LA Times

"THERE ARE stories you won't see, hear or read today. The
employment rate is 95.1%. About 29,564 domestic flights took off
and landed without incident. Four million Iraqi children
got safely to school.
Meanwhile, their parents shopped,
drove to work or otherwise went about their daily routines, mostly
— overwhelmingly — without getting assassinated."

"The foregoing has major implications for how we get our news,
what we conclude from it and our perceptions of life itself. In its
most elementary sense, after all, newsworthiness is built on a
foundation of anomaly — the classic "man bites dog" paradigm. (A
second newsroom aphorism: "Nobody writes about the
planes that land.")

"Despite any conscious awareness... we internalize what we see,
hear and read. TV imagery, in particular, is bound to have a strong
visceral effect. If what we are shown is a tireless parade of the
dour, dismal and deadly, we can't help but be affected by it. We
conclude that the world is a pretty ugly place."

"The overselling of discrete facts — today's breathless endeavor
to build major "trend stories" out of random events, statistics and
quotes — serves up a circumstantial stew made of a spicy
anecdote or two, and maybe a minor research study, liberally
seasoned with the assertions of a compliant expert (who probably
has a vested interest in the form of a book he's hawking). It's
intellectually dishonest."

Good News eh?
O.K. How bout this for starters?..Heh.

The Associated Press

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - "It's every chocolate lover's wish that their favorite indulgence could somehow be healthy for them. Now, chocolate makers claim they have granted that wish.

Mars Inc., maker of Milky Way, Snickers and M&M's candies, next month plans to launch nationwide a new line of products made with a dark chocolate the company claims has health benefits.

Called CocoaVia, the products are made with a kind of dark chocolate high in flavanols, an antioxidant found in cocoa beans that is thought to have a blood-thinning effect similar to aspirin and may even lower blood pressure. The snacks also are enriched with vitamins and injected with cholesterol-lowering plant sterols from soy."

Healthy chocolate..go figure.

The DenmarK we may not KnoW

Denmark condemns Israeli raid on Syria as unacceptable

Some more enlightening history many may not know about:
Oct 6,2003 :
COPENHAGEN, Israel's weekend raid on what it said was a Palestinian training camp in Syria was an "unacceptable violation" of Syrian territory, Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moeller said Monday.

"It is just as well that the UN Security Council is still considering this affair, because it is very serious when one country starts to fly over the territory of other countries," Moeller said, the Ritzau news agency reported.

Israel launched an air attack early Sunday on what it said was a Palestinian militant training base northwest of Damascus used by the Islamic Jihad and Hamas groups.

"What it said was..?" Either it was a militant training base or it wasn't. Easily verifiable now isn't it.

"The raid was in response to a suicide bombing claimed by Islamic Jihad that killed 19 people, plus the bomber, and wounded at least 50 others in the northern Israeli city of Haifa late Saturday."

And of course this is considered irrelevant somehow?

"Denmark can accept neither the terror nor the escalation... because this never leads to peace, but quite the contrary," Moeller said. "Peace can only be reached around the negotiating table."

What table was Denmark referring to exactly? Dining with Muzlims who's bread and butter consists of convoluted arguments against Westerners and Jews, and who seem to have adopted an unchanging monologue?... Not to mention their fundamental lack of humanity and incessant insistance upon violence.
Well then...what's on the menu praytell?

DenmarK: Friend or FoE or a little of BotH

Denmark not always a Friend of Israel

Based on this article May 2002:
"In March before the Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen's visit to the White House on March the 20th, Denmark had come under increasing attack by the Spanish EU president for not speaking out against Israeli aggression in the Palestinian controlled areas".

ahem..Israeli aggression?..Well, that language certainly speaks to the lies and deceptions they have bought into. How unoriginal.

"This has changed, and Denmark now follows the majority of the other EU countries ..in demanding an immediate withdrawal from the Palestinian territories recently reoccupied by Israel."
Re-Occupied?...hmmm...as in land they won during a war that was waged against them?!

"While the governing parties (the liberal and the conservatives) agree that Denmark should support a peaceful, non-restrictive solution to the Israel-Palestine problem, not everybody in Danish politics shares that view. Both Mogens Lykketoft and Niels Helveg Petersen say that they will be willing to "discuss" economic sanctions against Israel..."

"The left wing in Danish politics is traditionally pro-Palestinian and, in the current situation, wants to see much harsher measures taken against Israel.."

What is it with "left wingers" anyway?..Is it a directional issue? Right-Left, Good-Evil, Right-Wrong... Do they need a moral compass perhaps? Or do they simply suffer from naive ideas of their own grandeur?

On the other hand, there is the RIGHT wing:

"On the right wing, however, Dansk Folkeparti takes a pro-Israeli stance. For example, Søren Espersen suggests to Nordjyske Stiftstidende that the Israelis have no choice and that, if they withdraw from the territories occupied in 1967 (as Un resolutions demand), then that would mean the end of Israel. Søren Espersen thinks that the Arab world still seeks to destroy Israel and that the Saudi peace proposal is empty rhetoric. As long as we do not understand this fundamental drive in the Arab world (the wish to destroy Israel), says Espersen, then we "have not understood the way in which the Arab mind works." (Nordjyske Stiftstidende, April 7, 2002)."

The way the Arab mind works..let us just ponder that for a moment shall we?

"Israeli diplomats do not go that far..counselor to the Israeli Ambassy in Copenhagen visited Aalborg University where he gave a speech to a large number of students. He said that he was happy to present the Israeli "case" in public because he felt that the Western media only reported from the Palestinian point of view. Then, he proceeded to repeat the same statements that you can hear on BBC and CNN: Israel wants peace, they already offered the Palestinians an independent state, and Israel is, now, simply trying to protect itself against "terrorism"."

Are left wingers so committed to suffocating truth that they won't countenance any suggestion
that smacks of reality?
Let me make this REALLLLLLLLLLL simple then.

A COUNTRY HAS A RIGHT TO PROTECT ITSELF FROM TERRORISM.
and by the way...that includes Israel and the United States of America.

PlaY Ball!..well maybe NoT

Denmark may Cancel Soccer Match

"Denmark may cancel a soccer match against Israel because of fear of Muzlim reprisals, according to Israel Army Radio.

The report came Tuesday amid ongoing Muzlim protests following the printing of an editorial cartoon by a Danish newspaper that many Muzlims find offensive. A final decision on the game is expected at the end of February."

Well isn't that special?
So the Muzlim killers are still managing to ahem... score points by inducing more FEAR.
Shame on you Denmark.

U.S. Marines Devastated after Crash

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - Ten U.S. service members died when a pair of Marine Corps helicopters from a unit based in North Carolina crashed off the coast of Africa, U.S. military officials confirmed Sunday.

The two CH-53E choppers, carrying a dozen crew and troops from a U.S. counterterrorism force, went down during a training flight.

The Pentagon said the Marines killed in the crash were:

• 1st Lt. Brandon R. Dronet, 33, of Erath, La.
• Sgt. James F. Fordyce, 22, of Newtown Square, Pa.
• Lance Cpl. Samuel W. Large, Jr., 21, of Villa Rica, Ga.
• Sgt. Donnie Leo F. Levens, 25, of Long Beach, Miss.
• Cpl. Matthieu Marcellus, 31, of Gainesville, Fla.
• Sgt. Jonathan E. McColley, 23, of Gettysburg, Pa.
• Lance Cpl. Nicholas J. Sovie, 20, of Ogdensburg, N.Y.
• Capt. Bryan D. Willard, 33, of Hummelstown, Pa.

Also killed in the crash were Senior Airman Alecia S. Good, 23, of Broadview Heights, Ohio, of the 92nd Communications Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash.; and Staff Sgt. Luis M. Melendez Sanchez, 33, of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, of the 1st Communications Squadron, Langley Air Force Base, Va.

Margaret Levens, of Long Beach, Miss., said she was proud that her son, Donnie Levens, had a chance to do what he loved.

"He was there to serve his country and to keep his family and country safe," Margaret Levens said. "It was what he wanted to do. He was there for us ... in fact he had reenlisted for four (more) years."

We have all spoken of the merciless carnage and the fury that the winds of terrorism have blown.
Wev'e gaped at photographs, especially as of late,of mountains of rubble that used to be embassies and homes.
And now a father, mother, sister or brother, returns home no more.

But when faith is firm, and conscience clear, a mother can hear the sounds of sorrow ,yet still hold her son in her loving memory..knowing "He was there to serve his country and to keep his family and country safe,"

And that he did.

MINUTEMAN CIVIL DEFENSE CORPS
ANNOUNCES NATIONWIDE ‘SECURE OUR BORDERS’ OPERATION FOR APRIL 2006

(PHOENIX, AZ) February 16, 2006 – Chris Simcox, President of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (“MCDC”), today announced plans for the group’s nationwide “Secure Our Borders” campaign in April 2006. Simcox also announced a new operational structure for the original Minuteman Border Project to meet the growing needs of the continued expansion of Minuteman border security operations.

Thousands of MCDC volunteers, augmented by the new national support team, will hold border watch patrols in northern and southern states along an estimated 800 miles of international borders during the month of April. The Minutemen will observe and report suspected illegal border crossings to the proper authorities. As always, they will maintain a “no contact” policy with the exception of providing emergency water to those illegal aliens found in distress in the wilderness.

Last year, MCDC revolutionized the national debate about border security and illegal immigration by focusing the nation’s attention on the dangers of America’s wide-open borders in a post 9/11 world. The Minutemen have demonstrated that the borders can be secured with sufficient political will and dedication.

Since the MCDC 23-mile border watch in April, 2005, interest in joining and supporting the Minutemen has exploded nationwide. MCDC chapters have been formed in southern and northern border states, as well as interior states. To date, 6,500 men and women have passed the required background check and interviews to qualify to become official Minuteman Border Project volunteers – with more waiting in the queue for approval. Over 120,000 people have become friends of the Minutemen through their support and volunteer work.

Given the success of the Minuteman Border Project efforts, and two successful month long 24/7 operations conducted in April and October of 2005, a new national volunteer operational structure has been launched to support the Minutemen. The new structure is necessary to respond to these thousands of volunteers and supporters asking what they can do to help.

MCDC has asked for and accepted the help of experienced border volunteers who have been on the front lines, some for as long as four years. With this expansion we will be ready for the thousands of volunteers who will participate in the “Secure Our Borders” operation in April 2006. This expansion further solidifies MCDC’s ability to continue the largest neighborhood watch effort in American history. The Minutemen will continue their civil defense operations assisting authorities in securing the U.S. borders with Mexico and Canada until properly relieved.

Contact MCDC at (520)829-3112 or info@minutemanhq.com

LonelinesS

Emotion of the DaY:
Loneliness.

I lost myself
I can never forget everything he did to me
I guess I'm kind of scared
I left her because she was not "the one"
I'm falling apart
I can't ever let my feelings show
Why bother? Why try?
It's gonna be one of those nights.
Hold on tight.

Loneliness can manifest in a myriad of ways...

You can feel lonely:

when you are alone and have no choice in this
when you do not feel part of a group or event
when there is no one with whom to share your feelings and experiences
when you feel disconnected and alienated from your surroundings
when there is no-one to know how miserable and isolated you feel.

Loneliness can make you feel:

unloved and unwanted
socially inadequate
convinced that there is something wrong with you
self-conscious and ill at ease with others
angry and critical of others.

These feelings, of course, can then result in lowered self-esteem; a (usually unfounded) conviction that people do not want you around; a reluctance to even attempt to make friends or take part in social activities; an inability to assert yourself and say 'no' to things you do not want to do and a consequential feeling of being exploited.
as per Univ. of Cambridge

With some people solitariness is an escape not from others but from themselves. For they see in the eyes of others only a reflection of themselves.
- Eric Hoffer -

What do you do when you feel 'lonely'?

Washington or Lincoln or BotH?

Yahoo News on Presidents Day poses an interesting question.

Monday is not Presidents Day. It's Washington's Birthday.

"Only it isn't Washington's Birthday either, not really. The father of our country was born on Feb. 22, and Monday is only Feb. 19. What gives?

"This February holiday is a real mess. Back in the middle of the last century, when Americans didn't hate all their politicians for the mere character flaw of being politicians, we celebrated two holidays. Every American schoolchild knew that Abraham Lincoln was born on Feb. 12 and that Washington's birthday.. was 10 days later. Two presidents, two holidays. Made a lot of sense: the president who helped found the Union, the president who helped save it."

In 1968,Congress started to change dates of the nation's holidays. The lawmakers moved holidays so that most of them should be on Monday so as to assure three-day weekends.

"But there are three problems with the way things are today -- or, rather, the way things will be on Monday.

Problem No. 1: No proper celebration of Washington is really taking place. Washington exemplified several American ideals, including the notion of the citizen-soldier, the idea that American presidents shouldn't be royalty, and the concept that leaders ought to step away from office after a decent interval. The coupling of restraint and power is a lesson all of our leaders would do well to learn.

Problem No. 2: No proper celebration of Lincoln is really taking place. Lincoln's humanity and decency represent the best of America and are a reminder that it is possible, in the White House as in life, for a leader who makes hard choices to have a soft heart. According to some Lincoln was our greatest president.

Problem No. 3: It's not proper to celebrate mere power. That, essentially, is what a holiday named Presidents Day does. It honors all presidents, which, when you think of it, honors the fact of achieving the presidency more than it honors any achievements in the White House."

"It's important, if for nothing else as a cultural lesson to the kids who have the day off from school, to insist that the mere achievement of high office or high prestige is not itself worthy of celebration, even if the climb to office or to a position of prestige was difficult or ennobling. It is what someone does with that forum that matters."

What say you about this topic?..Yay or Nay on ahem.."President's Day"?

At Least 15 Die in Nigeria Cartoon Protest

Nigeria has a population of more than 130 million. It is roughly divided between a predominantly Muzlim north and a mainly Christian south.

In MAIDUGURI, Nigerian Muzlims protesting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad (real shocker eh?...)attacked Christians and burned churches on Saturday, killing at least 15 people in the deadliest confrontation yet in the whirlwind of Muzlim anger over the drawings.

It was the first major protest to erupt over the issue in Africa's most populous nation. An Associated Press reporter saw mobs of Muslim protesters swarm through the city center with machetes, sticks and iron rods. One group threw a tire around a man, poured gas on him and set him ablaze.
In Libya, the parliament suspended the interior minister after at least 11 people died when his security forces attacked rioters who torched the Italian consulate in Benghazi.

Thousands of rioters burned 15 churches in Maiduguri in a three-hour rampage before troops and police reinforcements restored order, Nigerian police spokesman Haz Iwendi said.

Chima Ezeoke, a Christian Maiduguri resident, said protesters attacked and looted shops owned by minority Christians, most of them with origins in the country's south.

"Most of the dead were Christians beaten to death on the streets by the rioters," Ezeoke said. Witnesses said three children and a priest were among those killed.

For those of us still counting: At least 45 people have been killed in protests across the Muzlim world, according to a count by The Associated Press.

Muzlim terrorists are committing mass violence, arson and murder across globe.
For pitys sake it is high time we look hard at the dark places of the Muzlim world that the mainstream media and liberals seem determined to look away from.
Their rage and destruction know no bounds.

Sure, let the liberals convince themselves that these priest and baby killers are merely desperate dissidents fighting for truth and freedom against the dark night of Western Civilization.

They claim the "images" cut like knives, so they draw their machetes against human flesh.
They claim the "images" signify ideas, so they formulate the idea of setting a human being ablaze.

Clearly the Muzlims have thus far established themselves and support behavior in which human respect for the value of life, dialogue, civility and a determination to resolve global problems within the community of nations have been laid aside. And knives, torches and machetes have been lifted up.

And their ultimate goal is some kind of resolution?
Please say your'e not serious.
My stomach can't take much more of this.

Michelangelo: "Genius is eternal patience."

Today in History:

February 18,1564 The artist Michelangelo died in Rome.

What most know of him is that in his architectural works Michelangelo defied the conventions of his time, that he showed mastery of the human figure in painting as well, that his art work displayed an unparallelled force and majestic style.

As such, he is known to us as one of the greatest artists of all time, a man whose name has become synonymous with the word "masterpiece".

As an artist he was unmatched, the creator of works of sublime beauty that express the full breadth of the human condition. as noted by Michelangelo Buonarroti

What many do not know is the torturous and troubled youth he struggled through.
"Buonarroti's mother, was too sick and frail to nurse Michelangelo, so he was placed with a wet nurse, in a family of stone cutters, where he, "sucked in the craft of hammer and chisel with my foster mother's milk. When I told my father that I wish to be an artist, he flew into a rage, 'artists are laborers, no better than shoemakers."

Buonarroti's mother died young, when he was but six years old. But even before then, Michelangelo's childhood had been grim and lacking in affection."Touchy and quick to respond with fierce words, he tended to keep to himself, out of shyness according to some but also, according to others, a lack of trust in his fellows."

"Michelangelo's "unsociableness" has been seen as the typical attitude of what was known in the Renaissance as the vir melanchonicus, or the absorbed and solitary contemplator, wholly wrapped up in his art, for whom involvement in creative activity was transformed into suffering: "I am here in great distress and with great physical strain, and have no friends of any kind, nor do I want them; and I do not have enough time to eat as much as I need; my joy and my sorrow/my repose are these discomforts."

Michelangelo was perhaps one of the artists who paid the greatest price in terms of suffering for the divine gift of his art: "I am a poor man and of little worth, who is laboring in that art that God has given me in order to extend my life as long as possible" (January 29th, 1542).

And through and despite his sorrow he bequeathed us "the David",the ceiling and rear wall of the "Sistine Chapel","the Pietà", and "Saint Peter's Basilica's" famous dome.Works so magnificent, they appear to me beyond even imaginative capabilities.

For those still full of aspirations - may I share some of his words:

On Faith:
Faith in one's self... is the best and safest course.
On Art:
I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.
The true work of art is but a shadow of the divine perfection.
On Belief:
The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we hit it.

HungrY for a DanisH Perhaps?

I give you: "The Danish"

"The Danish's distinctive dough was first created in the 17th century by a French apprentice baker who forgot to add butter to the flour and tried to hide his mistake by folding lumps of it into the dough. It became known as "a thousand leaves" in France.

It was copied in Italy - where it is known as "folded pastry" - and Italian bakers took it to Austria. It journeyed from there to Denmark when Danish bakers went on strike and replacements imported from Austria brought along what became known in Denmark as "Viennese Bread."

The pastry became the Danish to the rest of the world, probably, according to the Danish bakers' union, because Danish bakers emigrated to so many countries.
History lesson courtesy My Way News.

But not anymoreeeeeeeeeeeeeee...ya know how Prince became the dude formerly known as Prince and then morphed into nothing but a mere symbol..
May I present the pastry "formerly known as the Danish"
"Iranians love Danish pastries, but when they look for the flaky dessert at the bakery they now have to ask for "Roses of the Prophet Mu-hammad."
No, I'm not kidding.

In Tehran bakeries across the capital covered up their ads for Danish pastries Thursday after the confectioners' union ordered the name change in retaliation for caricatures of the Muzlim prophet published in a Danish newspaper.

Umm...a bit of perspective here.. At least 19 people have been killed in protests over the past several weeks..not to mention the ones wounded and the property burned and destroyed.
Iran, being the poster child for peace and good will has cut all commercial ties with Denmark in retaliation for the prophet cartoons.

Well if you ask me,it's a bit of an alliteration or is it a tongue twister......Ordering a "cheese- roses of the prophet(?) Mu-hammad", no make that a "prune - roses of the prophet(?) Mu-hammad...
On second thought - never mind, I think I lost my appetite.

A good reminder over at A Ladys Rumintions

DemocracY or something LikE it?

In an interview here this week, "President Pervez Musharraf said the country lies at the nexus of five world concerns: terrorism, democracy, human rights, narcotics, and nuclear nonproliferation." as seen in the Boston Globe
" A Pakistani journalist told us the local joke is that Islamabad is half the size of Arlington National Cemetery and twice as dead."

Muslim identity has profound meaning for Pakistanis. The actual name of the country is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which has 148 million Muslims, 97 percent of the population.
The muezzin's call to prayer is heard five times a day; the direction of Mecca is carved into the hotel room wall.
Interesting version of democracy eh?

The per capita income isless than $800 and the literacy rate is roughly 50 percent.
That's right: 50 percent are illiterate. And some are expecting educated dialogue and enlightened responses to political events?..Hmmm...Well.. You do the math on that one.

Musharraf is a military general who seized power in 1999. After the Sept. 11 attacks, he decided to back the US war against the Taliban in neighboring Afghanistan. Foreign investment from the United States followed, but despite all the American dollars-the partnership with America is still unpopular in much of the country. Hmmmmm.
This typical lack of gratitude underscores the wide gulf between "us and them"..The relationship is tenuous at best.

Musharraf rails against the United States, condemning January's US drone attacks in the borderland area of Bajaur as a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty, and calling the Danish cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed ''sad and pathetic."
Geography lesson yet again...um..Denmark is Denmark.Israel is Israel. The U.S. is the U.S. is the U.S.

Pakistan is experiencing a new political system. Clearly the roles of religion, civil society, the military, and local governments are still being worked out.
But despite that religious fervor, and fury is still on the rise.

Musharraf claims he is slowly restoring the institutions of democracy and yet he still wears a uniform.

Members of the press and opposition parties, however, remain skeptical of the free press, vigorous civil society, and increasingly vocal Parliament he lays claim to.

If Government officials and opposition party leaders continue to overlook terrorism, and violence, while continuing to complain of rampant Islamophobia...And if the ahem..'cartoons' are still used to justify further calls to death -I would be hard pressed to believe that
the rift between the U.S. and any Muzlim country for that matter-
isn't in danger of becoming permanently - permanent.

TaX DollarS for DrugggieS

The American Civil Liberties Union is launching an effort to restore aid to students barred from financial assistance under the federal Higher Education Act (HEA) because they have been convicted of a drug-related offense. your tax dollars at work

The Higher Education Act was passed by Congress in 1965 to provide financial resources for education to those who could not otherwise afford tuition. According to the legislation, the law was intended to “strengthen the educational resources of our colleges and universities and to provide financial assistance to students in postsecondary and higher education.”

The ban on financial aid for drug-related convictions was added as amendment to the HEA in 1998.

This the ACLU's ahem..intellectual rebuttal..
"Drug convictions are the only infractions for which students are denied financial aid. Because such aid is based on need, the Drug Provision has hit poor and middle-income students the hardest. The Drug Provision also unfairly affects racial minorities, who are disproportionately targeted for drug law enforcement."

Hits poor and middle income students?..um..Could that be because they were convicted of the drug related offense?
Oh this is classic: racial minorities?..meaning whom?..blacks, hispanics?. ..
Are being "targeted"?

We're talking about people who were convicted...what part of convicted is hazy?..difficult to comprehend?

The ACLU's hypocrisy is endemic in every cause they choose. No one is accountable for his or her behavior.Yet again they play the race card by insinuating that the drug dealers and users are the victims and obvious targets,- hoping yet again to incite reactions that pass for political point-scoring.
What is the ACLU's agenda hmmmmmm....

When the ACLU intervenes,I think the nation should just hold their collective nose...cuz something smells awfully fishy around here.

Susan B. AnthonY

On this date in 1820 American suffragist Susan B. Anthony was born in Adams, Mass.

Susan Brownell Anthony was born February 15,1820 in Adams Massachusetts to Daniel and Lucy Anthony. Her father, Daniel Anthony, was a stern man, a Quaker Abolitionist who believed in guiding his children, not directing them. He did not allow them to experience the childish amusements of toys, games, and music, which were seen as distractions from the inner light. Instead he enforced self-discipline, principled convictions, and belief in one's own self-worth.
Susan B. Anthony

Susan B. Anthony was a Quaker, teacher, temperance and abolition organizer, outstanding women's rights leader. She met Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1850. Together they took sufferage petitions door-to-door, advocated equal pay for equal work, and encouraged more women to form unions.

But "more than any other suffrage leader, she was the victim of masculine ridicule" including satirical cartoons and newspaper attacks.
Womens Studies

So you see my friends "cartoons" were employed as a fear-mongering tactic over a century ago.How they were "reacted" to..well I digress..that is an entirely different discussion..ahem..rant.

She was the driving force behind the National Woman Suffrage Association and became the internationally respected symbol of the woman's movement, "She has a broad and generous nature, and a depth of tenderness that few women possess" said Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

What many don't know is that she also attended a series of antislavery meetings ,devoted herself to the antislavery movement serving from 1856 to the outbreak of the civil war,1861. Here, she served as an agent for the American Anti-slavery Society.

It always gave me pause observing Rap music's unholy alliance with misogynism when the very roots of many anti-slavery campaigns were initiated not only by a woman..but a white woman.

ArT or BlasphemY?

Not many may know this little tidbit..Charlotte Obsever notes the centuries of Izlamic art.

"When the U.S. Supreme Court convenes in Washington, the justices sit in their grand courtroom beneath a carved marble frieze depicting 18 great lawgivers from the ages.
On the south wall are the ancients -- Confucius, Octavian and Moses holding the Ten Commandments. And on the north wall, along with Justice John Marshall and Napoleon Bonaparte, standing between Charlemagne and Justinian, is the Prophet Mu-hammad, cradling a sword and a copy of the Quran.
In the furor that has erupted since the publication of controversial Danish cartoons of Mu-hammad, many claims have circulated about Islam's prohibitions of artistic depictions of the "prophet."

This sculpture was chiseled in stone about 70 years ago.

In fact, in Iran, images of Mu-hammad are widely circulated among the predominantly Shia population. Furthermore - In the 15 centuries since Mu-hammad lived, Izlamic artists have portrayed the prophet in paintings now on display in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco.

It appears there is quite a bit of controversy and dissention regarding this matter. The
1.3 billion Muslims hold contrary beliefs about religious imagery. Experts even say that human figures have appeared frequently in Izlamic art through the ages, particularly in Persia and in Turkey.

But even respectful images of Mu-haamad have proven to be offensive and problematic to some.

"Nine years ago, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (otherwise known as a front for terrorism by some...) demanded the Supreme Court remove the image of Mu-hammad from the marble frieze.

"While appreciating the fact that Mu-hammad was included in the court's pantheon of 18 prominent lawgivers of history, CAIR noted that Islam discouraged its followers from portraying any prophet in paintings, sculptures or other artistic representations," the organization said in a published history.

Then-Chief Justice William Rehnquist rejected the request to sandblast Mu-hammad, saying the artwork "was intended only to recognize him, among many other lawgivers, as an important figure in the history of law; it is not intended as a form of idol worship."

What say you of the image of Mu-haamad cradling his sword while holding a copy of the Quran.....in the marble frieze in our grand Courtroom?

YeeeHawwww!
At last, the conservatives stand up to be counted

Well well ..this is what they are saying: It's taken awhile, a little more than five years to be precise, but we may be witnessing the return of a respected and important political ideology in this town: conservatism. And its apparent ride back onto the political scene comes not a moment too soon.

"...conservatism, real conservatism with its distrust of government and radical change, has been in short supply in our nation's capital since 2001. Oh, there are Republicans, and they have controlled the political landscape here since then. But there is a difference between Republicanism and conservatism.

Republicans are a party, concerned ultimately, as all parties are, with maintaining and growing power. And the GOP in particular is disciplined about doing whatever it takes to help their president. Conservatism is a political outlook, one that questions what the state is doing and is skeptical of power. It owes nothing to no one - not the president, nor the Congress. And it is crucial as a counterbalance to liberalism in the proper functioning of the government. It is the arched eyebrow in a room full of ideas."

With all due respect however, conservatives do not "owe nothing to no one"..They owe everything to their conscience and good faith.
When one sees government or organizations like the ACLU rife with corruption, cronyism and shortcomings ..
When one bears witness to honorable people's reputations being sullied by partisan misinformation and sloppy journalism distorting reality...
When one observes popular culture which is a cultural marker that affects our language, our arts, our dreams, our history, and our daily lives - become so perverse and decadent in the name of the First Amendment...

Then there truly is a principle at stake here. Human Integrity.
So by all means Conservatives...Do Stand up and be CounteD.

Haaamas RefusEs to RecognizE Israel AgaiN?.Who would have ThunK?

What a shock!

"There will be no recognition of Israel and there will be no security for the occupation and colonization forces," Mashaal told a rally in Khartoum. "Resistance will remain our strategic option." According to Yahoo News Hamas Assails US

Hamas protested "interference" by the United States and Israel following reports Tuesday the nations were exploring ways to topple the militants' incoming government unless they renounced their violent ideology and recognized Israel's right to exist.

O.K....Let's review Hamas's agenda again shall we?
Hamas is committed to Israel's destruction.
Oh wait..should I repeat, reiterate, expound? What part of destruction doesn't the liberal, lefty world understand?

Mashaal, on a regional tour to generate support for Hamas, said the group still hopes to form a national coalition government with other Palestinian factions, including Fatah.

Hamas and Fatah both in schoolyard ..oh Joy!

"By God, Israel will not feel safe and will have no legitimacy," Mashaal said to shouts of "Allahu Akbar!" or "God is great!" while standing before a huge portrait of slain Hamas founder Sheik Ahmed Yassin."

Can hardly wait for the rebuttals.. the propaganda machines churning out battle cries daily that do not remotely match reality.
But after all isn't that what liberal news,a.k.a. propaganda has become - twisted words masquerading as news that defy and deny reality.

Today we celebrate the 197th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln.
What do we know about this man? some discussion of his depression according to STLToday

Some allege he suffered from melancholy or depression, but unlike the celebrities nowadays who wallow and delve into their misery and nihilsm from whom we hear nothing but a deadening repetitive whining, - we celebrate how Lincoln transcended it. . "We'll never be able to diagnose Lincoln, but we can continue to learn from how he handled his condition: the old-fashioned way."

It is known that with his towering intellect and his sensitivity to the suffering caused by the war, he would still begin cabinet meetings with a reading from one of the low-brow humorists of the day. "Yet it was just such moments, when he shed the emotional weight of his responsibilities in full- bodied laughter, that helped him overcome his melancholia."

What say he of religion?
Speaking of the Bible to his friend Joshua Speed in the summer of 1864, Lincoln advised, "Take all of this book upon reason that you can, and the balance on faith, and you will live and die a happier man."

Ought we not try to typify that spirit?

Did he allow his depression to cripple him?
It is said that during phases of his early adulthood and middle age, he had experienced depression and learned to live with it. When it came time for him to lead the nation through the crucible of Civil War, he had attained an emotional equilibrium that enabled him to carry the nation's burden as well as his own.

Perhaps on some level this puts the lie to the notion that even debilitating depression can
prevent someone from finding one's highest destiny.

President Lincoln personified the struggle we all have on some level, allowing the supreme human value to be the victor.

Happy BirthdaY HighwaYs!

“Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel across the country from coast to coast without seeing anything.”-Charles Kuralt-

Heh.

Next time your'e stuck in a traffic jam on the HighwaY..PondeR the following (while your'e muttering under your breath)..

The Interstate Highway Act was passed in 1956. The proposed system supplanted many of the U.S. routes with divided Interstate highways.
Highway System

Of what possible significance is this you ask?

Quick history lesson.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, automobiles were a novelty, which only the very wealthy could afford. It may be hard to imagine but most Americans either used the good ole horse and buggy, bicycles or the railroads when they needed to go on long journeys.
Actually, getting around in large cities was relatively easy due to comprehensive networks of streetcars as well as subways.
gbcnet American Highways
Believe it or not - it was initially thought that cars would never even catch on. Go figure..Heh..

So basically, in the early part of this century, a good system of roads was simply not sorely needed.
But that changed dramatically with Henry Ford's introduction of the Model "T." To state that it was a "popular"automobile is a masterpiece of understatement. Over 16.5 million were sold.(a record, incidentally which was not broken until 1972 when the Volkswagen Beetle surpassed that!.Raise ya hand if u had one..heh)

Hence, the need for a good "road" emerges.

Roads up until then were either unpaved wagon trails or cobblestone. The invention of concrete improved roads from mud bogs into passable, all-weather highways.

Roads of asphalt or concrete were built but lack of coordination between states through which the transcontinental routes ran caused confusion since the route was often not even straight. Hence the need for a system of standardized interstate highways had evolved.

By 1924 it became clear that a single, unified system of highways was necessary. In that year, the American Association of State Highway Officials passed a resolution requesting the Secretary of Agriculture to investigate the possibility of creating a system of standardized highways.

The legislation of 1956 encouraged by President Eisenhower, also provided for an extended network of 66,000 km (41,012 mi) and nationwide design standards, including:

a minimum of two lanes in each direction
lanes that were 12 ft in width
a 10-foot right paved shoulder
design speeds of 50–70 mph (for those of you wondering where the speed limit even came from?)

These highways now gave Americans unprecedented mobility and easy access to any part of the country. Did you ever realize that You can literally go anywhere at anytime with just a moments notice.

So Happy 50th Birthday U.S. Highways!
