As any educated person knows.(or do they?).There are no "Palestinians"..so let us just dispense first and foremost with that fictitous name shall we? The word "Palestine" comes from the Hebrew word for the Philistines, and was later applied by the Greeks and Romans to the territory..but thanks for using the Hebrew version,- thats so endearing. One more thing "stolen".
What they are ..are Arabs.

These "Arabs"currently in the State of Israel were under Muslim rule until 1948 as we all know (or do we?)..ah o.k. then quick history lesson. The Arab/Islamic presence goes back to the 7th century A.D. when the region was conquered from the Christian Byzantine empire and remained under Arab Islamic rule outside of the period during the Crusades(1095-1291) when the Latin Christians attempted to re-conquer the Christian holy places back from the Moslems. In the 16th century the Turks (also an Islamic people by the way)conquered the region. You still with me?

The Arabs actually could have had a state in 1948 when the UN proposed dividing up Palestine into two countries one Arab and one Jewish. But needless to say they blatantly refused and invaded Israel instead. Real peace loving eh?
A second opportunity presented itself in 1967 after the Six Day War when Israel actually offered to negotiate land for peace.(What were they thinking?) What was the predictable response of the Arabs? Oh yes - the Khartoum resolution! which incidentally stated "no recognition of Israel, no peace with Israel, and no negotiations with Israel".

Israel tried yet again in 2000 during the Camp David negotiations( why they call it"camp"-I'll never understand).. the Arabs were offered 97% of the West Bank by Israel..that's right I said 97%!..Arafat stormed out and refused. Things that make ya go Hmmmmmmmmm.

Following on its heels was the ahem "peace loving"..cough speech given by Dr. Ahmad Abu Halabiya on official Palestinian Television on October 13, 2000-

“None of the Jews refrain from commiting every possible evil... they are the
terrorists, they are the ones who must be butchered and killed.”

“Have no mercy on the Jews, no matter where they are, in any country. Fight
them wherever they are. Wherever you meet them, kill them. Wherever you are
kill those Jews and those AMERICANS who are like them...”
More Hatred Spewing

Oh, just in case you think it's only a handful of radicals....the vast majority of the Arab population supports suicide bombings against Israel. Do some homework and check the stats for yerself.

And now:
Hamas won a huge majority in parliamentary elections.

    You seem to have ignored the fact that the palestinian people are suffering appaling oppression from the israeli state. They are occupying huge areas of the best land, driving the palestinians into poverty, treating them like dirt on thier own land and building that appaling wall deviding the people.

    Violence is not the answer, but when I see a child with a rock stood infront of a tank, i know who's side i am on.

    Woman, thanks for the history lesson. You left out one important fact though. When the State of Israel was recognized and made official, the Mufti of Jerusalem ordered his people out of "Palestine". They fled across the border to Jordan, where they were not really welcome.

    They left their own country!!! Now they want it back. How charming. How quaint. Just give them back what they abandoned.

    More people should read history instead of the revisionist clap trap that passes for history.

    Mr. Iguana, you are part of the problem instead of being part of the solution. They caused their own oppression. You never hear about all of the Arabs and Jews in Isreal who live in a harmonious and neighborly fashion. That is not "News"

    The Palestinians want something for nothing. Now they have it, a Palestinian terrorist state. As to the kid with the rock; I blame his mother. She never taught him/her that you never bring a rock to a gunfight.

    The Palestinians got what they deserved. They should get over it.

    Get over it? how can they get over it, when they are still being oppressed, occupied and generally being shat on evry day.

    UN resolution 194 states "the refugees wishing to return to thier homes and live in peace with their neighbours should be permitted to do so at the earliest possible date" this has been reaffirmed 135 times since, but is still ignored.

    Funny how the US government is selective which resolutions it wants to enforce.

    Too many fallacies to deal with them all in "clint's" comment. Shall I pick two? OK.

    Oppresion: gee, would the "Palestinians give the franchise to any Jews and allow them to vote in open election? Nuh-uh. No way, no how. Yet any Arab (including those who claim to be "Palestinians") can become a citizen and vote in Israel--and many do.

    "They are occupying huge areas of the best land..." Yep. Best... NOW. Until the Jews got their hands on it and made it among the most productive land in the Middle East, while it was under Arab rule it was largely a wasteland.

    Their oppression is SELF INFLICTED!
    They should get over it. They have refused each and every peace plan except the one that will call of the elimination of the State of Israel. There is no Palestinian state or people.

    Most are the descendents of Israel, formerly called Palestine, who happen to be of the Moslem faith.

    The Palestinians are driving themselves to poverty. Instead of working in productive areas, they sit around and plot terrorist acts and the destruction of Israel. They have the same cretin mentality as the racist nuts in this country.

    Middle Class guy.Thanks for the x-tra info..mea culpa..the Mufti did suggest all the Arabs leave - which they did volitionally and subsequently were refused entry in any other Arab nation..wheres the ole brother to brother hospitality?

    Hmmm, I don't recall seeing ISRAELIS trying to blow themselves and the Palestinians up. The Israelis are merely trying to defend themselves against Islamist Terrorists. The Palestinians need to be responsible for themselves and bring themselves out of poverty.

    clint - I'm so glad you brought this up! The success of the "Palestinian" propaganda machine has been overwhelming indeed. Got a minute? Check this out. You might also want to do some research as to how much money gets poured into "Palestinian" leaders' hands and where exactly it goes (hint: it doesn't feed hungry "refugees"). I agree with you on this, though. It really is sad. Where the Jews have been able to turn desert into beautiful and productive land with little assistance, the Arabs have done very little to better their conditions. It almost makes you wonder, are they trying to better their conditions? Or is it more useful to them to live in decrepit "refugee camps" so as to further their ultimate goal? You want to hand us lucrative greenhouses on a silver platter? Dammit! We'll destroy them! And don't do us any favors.
